Andrea "Inky" D. Smith, beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 62 years old.

Andrea was born on July 28, 1963, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Mattie P. Smith and the late David G. Smith.

She grew up in Boston and graduated from West Roxbury High School. Continuing her pursuit of education, Andrea attended Roxbury Community College, where she earned her associate degree. Andrea began her professional career at the Bank of New England and later dedicated many years of service at the John Hancock Building. After leaving her career, she relocated to Fall River, Massachusetts, where she resided for over 30 years. There, she devoted herself fully to her family as a loving and dedicated mother to her two children and later a proud and nurturing grandmother to her eight grandchildren. Andrea's selflessness shone through in her decision to provide a loving environment to family and friends in need of a guiding hand.

Andrea had a generous heart and gave back to her community by working with the Salvation Army during the winter months, helping raise funds for families in need during the Christmas season. She found joy in life's simple pleasures playing bingo, visiting the casino, trying her luck with slot machines and scratch tickets, and spending time outdoors enjoying the weather. Known for her sharp mind and natural talent with numbers, Andrea was often sought out for advice and was always just a phone call away for those she loved.

In 2023, Andrea relocated to Brockton, Massachusetts. During her long and difficult battle with cancer, she showed incredible strength and resilience. She proudly rang the victory bell not once, but twice—celebrating milestones in her treatment and symbolizing hope, courage, and perseverance. Despite her determination, Andrea ultimately lost her battle on March 23, 2026.

Andrea was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Nichols, her father, David G. Smith, her brother Ruben Williamson (wife Nadine Alves), and sister Wanda Butler. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Mattie P. Smith, her devoted children, Nastasha Young and Jerome Young Jr. (wife Britney Young) her cherished grandchildren, Nevaeha, Jerome III, Joshawn Jr, Jameel, Messiah, Nai'Arah, Andre, and Toni Marie, her siblings, Deborah Lovings (husband Kevin), Donna Smith, Andre Williams, David Howell, and her brother in law Darryl Butler, along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family members, and dear friends. Andrea will be remembered for her strength, her kindness, her unwavering love for her family, and the joy she brought to all who knew her. Her legacy of love and resilience will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind

Friends and Family are cordially invited to attend a Public Visitation which will be held from 12:00 PM - 03:00 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Southcoast Funeral Home, inside of the Ferreira Chapel, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Massachusetts. A Celebration of Life will follow at 03:00 PM inside of the Chapel which will be presided over by Chaplain and Life Celebrant Ines Bates.
