Arthur
Doerrmann
Dec 16, 1934 — Nov 11, 2024
Arthur Peter Doerrmann, a dedicated and loving father, gifted tinkerer, and aficionado of classical music, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on December 16, 1934 in Germany, Arthur carried with him a rich tapestry of culture and history that he loved to share with those around him. His intelligence, charm, and talent for storytelling made him a beloved figure in his community of Swansea, Massachusetts.
Arthur's career as a clerk at a camera repair service was a testament to his sharp mind and adept hands. He was known for his talented ability to breathe new life into delicate, intricate pieces of machinery. This skill extended into his personal life as well, where he could often be found in his workshop, repairing clocks and gadgets. His love for fixing things was matched only by his love for the classical music that often played as the soundtrack to his diligent work. As Albert Einstein once said, "It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge." Arthur embodied this joy and shared it generously with others.
In his retirement, Arthur found peace and tranquility in the simple act of gardening. The fruits of his labor were not only seen in the vibrant flowers and lush vegetables that bloomed under his careful tending, he loved geraniums, red ones especially, but also in the joy he took in sharing the beauty of his garden with others. As a widower, he found solace in the natural world and often said that his garden was a living tribute to his beloved late wife, Jutta Doerrmann.
Arthur is survived by his loving daughters, Tiffany Doerrmann and Garnet Schafman, 4 adoring grandchildren, and his sister Christl Engle. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, and his parents Rosl and Artur.
His legacy of love, dedication, and talent will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
