Arthur T. Lage Jr. died in Fall River, MA on December 31, 2024 at the age of 67. Born in Fall River, he was the only child and son of the late Arthur T. Lage and the late Jacqueline (Connell ) Lage. His parents both ran Lage Travel Bureau, which was originally owned by Arthur's grandfather, John G. Lage. The travel agency was one of the oldest travel agencies in New England established in 1910...preceding air travel. Art's mother Jacqueline also worked over 15 years as a local model for stores such as Shepard-Gladdings and the Outlet Co. She modeled for various newspaper advertisements including posing as the S & H Green Stamps girl for Almac's supermarket. Her S & H Green Stamps image was also featured on a local billboard.
Arthur was married to Linda (Gagnon) Lage of Tiverton, RI for 33 years , friends for 50 years.
Arthur attended Bishop Connolly High School where he was on an all-star hockey team that played in Switzerland. He graduated in 1980 from University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth with a Bachelor of Science in business. In addition, he earned an R.N. Degree from Bristol Community College in 1994.
Arthur worked for his family travel business up until his graduation from nursing school. Shortly after nursing school, an unexpected opportunity inspired him to switch "gears" from a nursing career to an online antique Jaguar car parts business. He fulfilled a passion for restoring XKE Jaguars, owning and /or restoring over 250 of them in his lifetime.
A lover of golf, Arthur was a longtime member of the Acoaxet Club in Westport, MA and Montaup Country Club in Portsmouth, RI. In 1997 he won the Charlton Cup Championship at Acoaxet, and in the year 2000 he also made it to the Charlton Cup Finals. Art also made it to the finals of their Men's Class A Championships in 1995, 1996, 1998 and 2004. Art while golfing with a partner at Acoaxet won the Spring League twice. During one informal round of golf at Montaup Country Club, he scored an albatross. Arthur was also a huge lover of dogs and enjoyed playing tennis and spending time at the beach with his wife.
Arthur is survived by his wife Linda.
Arthur's wife would like to thank Kim Lambert, Angel Magee and Jessica Dias of Gentiva Hospice of Fall River and Alda Camara for their compassionate care and support. A special thanks to Lynne "baby bird" Miranowicz for her kindness, friendship and unwavering support,.
There will be no wake. Relatives and friends are invited to Arthur's Funeral Mass on January 18th, 2025 at 10:00am at Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St. Fall River, MA.
Burial will be for family members only at St. Patrick's Cemetery, 2233 Robeson Street, Fall River, MA
