It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Blomquist on January 25, 2025. Born Barbara Fleck on August 10, 1953 in Taunton, MA, she was a beacon of kindness, strength, and resilience who left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Barbara's life can best be encapsulated by the words of Maya Angelou, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."

Barbara served the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for many years in the Department of Developmental Services, helping to improve and enrich the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. Her dedication and commitment to her work exemplified her unwavering compassion for those in need. She was a champion of the vulnerable, putting her heart and soul into advocating for their rights and wellbeing. As Helen Keller aptly stated, "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." This was Barbara's mantra, a testament to her belief in the power of community and collective action.

In her personal life, Barbara was the widow of Donald Blomquist with whom she shared many cherished years. She was the proud and loving mother of her daughter, Crystal Costa-Blomquist and her partner Samson. Her joy and love for her family knew no bounds and her spirit will continue to live on in their hearts. Barbara's life was a testament to the power of love and kindness, as beautifully expressed by Audrey Hepburn, "The best thing to hold onto in life is each other."
