Blanche Thomas, born on June 14, 1974, in Charleston, SC, was a woman of grandeur, passion, and dedication. Her life was a vivid tapestry of love for her family, service to her country, and commitment to her community. As someone once said, "The greatest legacy one can pass on to one's children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one's life, but rather a legacy of character and faith." Blanche indeed left a legacy of character and faith.

Blanche spent her early years in Ocean City, NJ, where she graduated from OCHS. Following her graduation, she joined the Navy, demonstrating her patriotic spirit and the courage that was her hallmark. After her service, she relocated to New Bedford, Massachusetts, in 2008. Here, she became a beloved figure, not only as a Den mother in the Boy Scouts but also as an active member of St Andrew's Episcopal Church. Her love for history, a passion she shared with her mother, was evident in her work at the church. Blanche's tenacity and determination saw her obtaining an associate degree from Bristol Community College.

Blanche's life was a testament to the strength of the human spirit. She approached her challenges with grace, never allowing her circumstances to overshadow her ability to love and serve those around her. She is survived by her son, Andrew Athison, and her sister, Lee Thomas. Her parents, Leroy and Blanche Thomas, preceded her in death. Blanche's memory will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate to have known her.

Blanche's life will be celebrated on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 9:30 AM at St Andrew's Episcopal Church, 169 Belleville Road, New Bedford, Massachusetts, 02745.
