We come together to celebrate the life and mourn the passing of Carmen DeGrace, a vibrant firefly, who was born on the beautiful island of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, on July 18, 1955.

Carmen was a woman of immense strength and unparalleled compassion, whose warmth and resilience touched the lives of all who knew her. She passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by love.

Carmen is survived by her loving daughter, Amanda DeGrace and husband Keith Lefevre and her sisters Brunilda Jorge, Rosa Deburgo, and brother William Roman. She is also survived by her former spouse, Kenneth DeGrace.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ismael and Aracelia Roman and sister Elba Roman, who instilled in Carmen a love for her heritage and deep sense of faith. She loved cooking, nurturing plants and was a member of the International Church of the Nazarene. She worked for City of New Bedford and over 15 years in medical administration and translation.

A public visitation and prayer will be held for Carmen on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 09:00 AM - 11:00 at the Southcoast Funeral Home located at 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, 02723. A committal service will follow at 12:00 PM at the Pine Grove Cemetery, located at 1100 Ashley Boulevard, New Bedford, Massachusetts, 02745.

All attendees are then welcomed to the International Church of the Nazarene at 286 Pleasant St. in New Bedford for repast and refreshment.
