Obituary

Ciriaco Samuel Garcia, 89 of Providence died Saturday, August 22nd, 2026 at Hope Hospice Center with his daughter and son-in-law at his bedside. Born in San Antonio Suchitepequez, Guatemala he was the son of the late Fernando Garcia and Eulalia Coton Toc.

He first worked as a Cartoonist for a Guatemalan newspaper called "El Trafico" later he moved to New York City to work for a Gourmet Cookie Company. Finally he moved to Rhode Island and worked over 20 years at a Mattress factory in Pawtucket. With the closure of the business, he finally retired.

He is survived by his loving children, Marlon Garcia, daughter Mayra Alabi (nee Garcia) son-in-law (Taofiki Alabi). He is also cherished by his nephews Mark and Caesar and Niece Isalia Alvarez who were raised by him and his family after their parents' passing. Additionally he is fondly remembered by his grandchildren Stefanie, Marlon, Tijani, Jay, Milan, Marielle, Maysun, and Benjamin. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Maria Elena Garcia, they celebrated almost 50 years together before her passing in 2014.

The family wishes to express their love and devotion for Ciriaco for being such a wonderful father, hard-worker, and excellent provider.

A memorial service will be held privately by the family at a later date, please respect the families privacy during this mourning period and they appreciate the thoughts and prayers.
