Constantina Szeliga, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on June 28, 2026, just a few months shy of her 89th birthday. Born in the beautiful Azores on August 10, 1937, she emigrated to the United States, where she became an integral part of the Fall River, Massachusetts community. A loving woman with a funny and courageous spirit, Constantina was known for her unwavering supportive nature towards everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Throughout her life, Constantina was a pillar of strength, love, and laughter for her family and friends. She spent her career as a dedicated machine operator in the textile industry, demonstrating her hard work and commitment. But it was her devotion to her family that truly brought her the greatest joy. Her son, Louis, was the light of her life, and her granddaughters and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved nothing more than spending quality time with them, creating unforgettable memories that will be cherished forever. When she was not with her family, you could find Constantina testing her luck at the casino, a hobby she thoroughly enjoyed.

Constantina was a woman of strong Catholic faith, which guided her throughout her life. As stated in the Book of Proverbs, "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future" (Proverbs 31:25). This verse perfectly encapsulates the essence of Constantina's life, full of courage, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to her family. She is survived by her son, Louis Szeliga, her granddaughters Amanda Lozado and Courtney Szeliga, her great-grandchildren Savannah, Tristen, George Jr., Journey, Amora, Ashanti, and Reagan, her sons-in-law George and Luis, and her daughter-in-law Nadia. Constantina was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Adelina Pavao, and her siblings Maria, Joe, Frank, Manuel, and John. She was a woman with a very large family with many who loved her and she had many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews, and many godchildren.

Friends and Family are cordially invited to celebrate the life of Constantina which will be held at the Southcoast Funeral Home on Monday, July 6, 2026, 05:00 PM - 07:00 PM inside of the Ferreira Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Espirito Santo Catholic Church presided over by Father Maurice Gauvin on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by a Committal Service at Notre Dame Cemetery and Mausoleums at 11:15 AM
