Daniel Santos Silva (80) of Acushnet, MA passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, Saturday August 9, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford, MA, after many years battling various health conditions.

Born on October 31, 1944 (coincidentally his mother's 25th birthday) in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of Inez Cabral Figueiredo and Jose Silva, late of Fairhaven, MA. Daniel emigrated to the U.S. together with his family in 1949. He attended schools in Cambridge, MA.

He was the owner and operator of his own long haul, over the road trucking business, Silva Bullet Trucking. He took time to share many stories of his traveling adventures over the years.

He enjoyed fishing on his boat in Buzzards Bay, jet skiing, and driving his Yamaha motorcycle. He was happiest when he was mowing his lawn on his John Deere and tinkering with his many cars and trucks. He valued spending time with his family, friends and various pet animals.

Daniel was a loving father to his daughters, who survive him. Tammy Silva and her children Ashley Lassiter, and Amber Lassiter. Michelle Mattos and her children Cristal Calise, and Kimberly Calise, and his step daughter Lisa Viveiros and her children Natasha DaSilva, Ronald Ponte Jr, Courtney Maccine, He is also survived by 18 loving great grandchildren.

Additionally, Daniel is survived by his sister Gracinda S. Biallas of East Hartford, CT, ex-wife Barbara Valerio, four nieces and a nephew and their families in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Daniel was predeceased by his sister Leonilde C. Mello, formerly of New Bedford and his sister Almorinda Silva of Santa Maria, Azores. He was the grandson of the late Jacinto and Maria Cabral Figueiredo and the late Jose and Carolina Sousa Silva.

The family wishes to thank the EMS Services of Acushnet, MA and the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Luke's Hospital for their loving care over the years.

A public visitation will be held on Monday August 18, 2025 from 10-11am, at the Southcoast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, MA 02723. Daniel's life will be celebrated at 12pm at St. John's Cemetery Chapel, 664 Allen Street, New Bedford, MA 02740, burial to follow at the cemetery.
