Obituary

David Mello Jr. of Fall River, a man whose vibrant spirit and unique sense of humor brought joy to many, peacefully passed on October 1, 2025, at the age of 64.

Born on February 6, 1961, in Somerville, Massachusetts, David was a beacon of strength and resilience who never failed to leave a lasting impression on those he met. As an entrepreneur and business owner in the fundraising sector, David was a passionate and hardworking individual known for his dedication and steadfastness. His life was aptly reflected in the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."

David, had an infectious zest for life and a taste for adventure. His hobbies included horse racing, visiting the casino, and traveling. His love for music was legendary, albeit a bit controversial among his family, as he reveled in the hits by Elvis, The Beach Boys, and Rod Stewart. Despite his tough exterior, David was a family man at heart, cherishing his interactions with his grandchildren and taking immense pride in their accomplishments. Quoting Mark Twain, "The secret of getting ahead is getting started." David's endless support and faith in his loved ones were testament to this belief.

David is survived by his beloved spouse, Kimmy Mello of Fall River, his sons David Mello III and Jared Mello, and daughter Ashley Vieira. His memory will live on in the hearts of his grandchildren Madison, Kyrin, Kingston, Gianna, and Viviana, his siblings Robbie Sylvia, Monica Diehl, and Leo Mello, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews. David is preceded in death by his parents, Phyllis Moniz of New Bedford and David Mello Sr. of Tiverton, and his siblings Kevin Mello and Cynthia Mello.
