We are gathered here to pay tribute to a woman of strength, resilience, and love - Doris "Tudy" Ann Melanson. Born on September 11, 1946, in Fall River, Massachusetts, Doris Ann was a beloved mother, friend, and community pillar. As Maya Angelou once said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Doris Ann embodied this sentiment, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone she met.
She was the daughter of late Lewis Mattos and Doris Mattos (Cabral) of Fall River MA.
Doris was a graduate of Durfee High School, upon graduation she worked with various companies and then later in life retired from her career in retail.
She was always looking for inspiration and loved home-making, crafting and creating. She also loved animals and nature, especially cats.
Doris is survived by her son Paul Melanson (wife Darlene) of Taunton MA, and her two daughters, Christine Dorton (Melanson) of Fall River MA and Stephanie Peixoto (Mattos) (husband John) of New Bedford MA. One sister and one nephew, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Doris Ann is survived by her devoted daughter, Stephanie Peixoto.
Her life and legacy will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. A public visitation will commence at 11:00 AM 12:30 PM at Southcoast Funeral Home, located at 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, 02723. A Catholic Funeral Home Service will follow at 12:30 PM at the same venue presided over by Father Michael Racine. Doris's journey will be concluded with a Committal Service at 01:30 PM at Oak Grove Cemetery, 765 Prospect Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, 02720.
