It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gladys Prout, a beautiful soul whose light touched everyone she met. Gladys, who departed this world on June 5, 2025, was a beacon of love, warmth, and strength, leaving behind an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing her. As Emily Dickinson once wrote, "Unable are the loved to die. For love is immortality."

Gladys was a woman of extraordinary grace, who lived her life with a rare blend of strength, compassion, and childlike wonder. Her zest for life was infectious, her laughter a melody that lifted spirits and warmed rooms. She was a master storyteller, weaving tales that captivated her audience and left them waiting for more. Gladys was also a phenomenal cook; her home always filled with tantalizing scents and delicious meals that brought family and friends together. Her hospitality was legendary, her home always open, her heart always welcoming. As Maya Angelou said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Gladys had the rare gift of making every person she encountered feel seen, heard, and valued.

Gladys is survived by her children David Prout, and Ron Prout. She was predeceased in life by her loving parents.

Gladys's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the human spirit. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the way she lived her life. As Pericles said, "What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others." Gladys's legacy will continue to inspire and guide us, her memory forever etched in our hearts.

Public visitation for Gladys Prout will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 12:00 PM - 03:00 PM at Southcoast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, 02723. The funeral service will follow at 03:00 PM at the same location.
