James Jeffrey Carr passed away on August 27, 2026, at the age of 26. Born on June 28, 2000, in Newton, Massachusetts, James was the beloved son of Laura Fahey and James Carr.

James grew up in Brockton, Massachusetts, with his father and graduated from Brockton High School in 2018, where he was a member of the cross-country team. Following graduation, James proudly joined the United States Marine Corps. His service eventually brought him to Okinawa, Japan, where he lived with his wife, Valdemira.

James married his beloved wife, Valdemira Carr, in May 2018. The two built their lives around spending as much time together as possible, making their work schedules flexible so they could enjoy life's moments side by side. Their years in Okinawa were especially meaningful, filled with friendships, adventures, and memories they treasured enough to return and visit even after moving back to the United States in July 2022.

After returning home, James worked as a carpenter, a profession he genuinely enjoyed, until chronic back pain made it difficult for him to continue. As a disabled veteran, James faced significant physical and personal challenges throughout his life, yet he continued to find meaning in his faith, relationships, and the things that brought him happiness.

In January 2023, James dedicated himself and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. His faith became an important part of his life. He especially enjoyed attending congregation meetings and, true to James, coordinating his outfits with Valdemira for the occasion.

James found happiness in the simple things. His favorite color was orange, and he loved playing video games with his wife and friends, thrift shopping, reading manga, drawing, arts and crafts, and spending time with his beloved cats, Ito and Karasu. He and Valdemira enjoyed watching cartoons together, with Adventure Time holding a special place among his favorites.

When his health allowed, James loved being outdoors. Hiking, camping, watching sunsets, traveling, and taking road trips gave him a sense of freedom and adventure. He valued experiences, time with the people he loved, and the memories made along the way.

James also cherished lifelong friendships, including those with his childhood best friends, Anthony and Elijah.

Above all, James will be remembered for continuing to do his best even while carrying struggles that were not always visible to others. Despite the physical and emotional pain he endured, he continued to love, laugh, create memories, practice his faith, and share his life with those closest to him.

James leaves behind his loving wife, Valdemira Carr; his mother, Laura Fahey; his father, James Carr; his sister, Ashley; his brother, Darren; his beloved cats, Ito and Karasu; his childhood friends, Anthony and Elijah; and the many relatives, friends, fellow Marines, and members of his congregation whose lives he touched.

James's life was far too short, but the love, friendships, adventures, and memories he created during his 26 years will remain with those who knew and loved him.

Friends and Family are cordially invited to attend a public visitation on Friday, September 11, 2026 08:30 AM - 09:30 at the Southcoast Funeral Home inside of the Ferreira Chapel, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, MA 02723. A Funeral Home Service will take place at 09:30 AM following visitation. 

James will be laid to rest at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne, MA. The burial will be private and by invitation only. 

The funeral home offers a lighted parking lot which is available on the corner of Boutwell and Pleasant Street, (opposite corner of the funeral home) and our facility has a handicap-accessible ramp and entrance.
