Obituary

Janet Pereira (88) of Fall River, a loving mother, grandmother, friend, and dedicated nurse, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024 at the Somerset Ridge Center surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Janet Wanda Kaszynski on November 24, 1936, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Janet was a spirited beacon of light who touched countless lives with her compassionate heart and thoughtful nature. Janet's spirit of giving was shaped by her strong Catholic faith, and she lived out the words of Matthew 25:40, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

Janet received her training as a Nurse from the Truesdale School of Nursing, and proudly worked at the Truesdale Hospital and Boston Counsel of Aging in Fall River, always serving her community selflessly.

Janet's journey took her from her Polish roots in New Bedford to Fall River, where she married George Pereira, the love of her life in 1967. Together, they built a life filled with kindness, laughter, and enduring love. Janet's commitment to serving others, both in her professional life as a nurse and in her personal life, was awe-inspiring. She was a loyal parishioner of Saint Stanislaus Parish in Fall River, where she served her community with grace, generosity, and unfaltering faith.

In her leisure time, Janet adored spending time with her family. She was a doting grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren. Her home in Fall River, Massachusetts, was a hub of warmth and love, filled with the sound of laughter and the aroma of home-cooked meals. Her travels took her to Poland, a journey she held close to her heart, as it connected her to her heritage and provided her with memories she cherished.

Janet is survived by her daughters, Patricia Coady and her husband Robert and Kristine Barnes and her husband Andrew; her son, Robert Pereira and his wife Diana; and her beloved grandchildren, Grace, Jackson, Caroline Elizabeth, Robert Francis, and Mary Claire as well as her nephew Jon. She was preceded in death by her husband George Pereira; her parents, Chester and Genevieve (Kalisz) Kaszynski; her brothers, Robert and Chester Jr Kaszynski; her sister, Loretta; and her nephew, Dale Stetson. Each of them held a unique place in Janet's heart, and her love for them will continue to resonate in their lives.

As we remember Janet, we celebrate the life of a truly remarkable woman who lived her life with unyielding love, strong faith, and unwavering dedication to those she served. We invite you to share your memories of Janet and upload photos to the memorial page, as we honor her life and the indelible mark she left on all of us.
