NEW BEDFORD... Jessenia I. Simmons Montanez, age 45, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 29, 2023. Born on the island of St. Thomas, Jess was daughter of Elwyn Simmons of St. Thomas and Evelyn Montanez-Lopez of New Bedford, MA. Jess worked as a secretary and was known for her love of softball. In addition to her parents, survivors include: sons, Kasai Tanco of Puerto Rico; Aramis Rivera Simmons of New Bedford, MA; daughter, Okilani Rivera Simmons of New Bedford, MA; brother, Ian Simmons of Atlanta, GA; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held at 5 PM on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at South Coast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, MA 02723. Calling hours will be held from 3 PM to 5 PM prior to the service.
