John David Hopkins, a beacon of hope, kindness, and unwavering faith, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, at the age of 72. Born in Rhode Island on April 28, 1952, to David and Beverly Hopkins, John spent most of his life in Fall River, Massachusetts, where he touched countless lives with his compassion and selfless service. Known as John to his friends, family, and a broad community of those whose lives he enriched, he embodied the words of Mahatma Gandhi, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."

John's vocation as a pastor at Ferry Street Ministries was not just a job, but a calling. He served his congregation and the wider community with a heart full of love and hands ready to lift those in need. His spirit of service extended beyond the walls of his church and into the very fabric of Fall River. His devotion to his faith and his community was the cornerstone of his life, and his legacy will live on in the many hearts he touched. As Mother Teresa once said, "We can do no great things, only small things with great love," and this sentiment perfectly encapsulates the life that John led.

John is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Deborah Hopkins, who stood by his side in all of life's joys and trials, her strength and love a testament to the deep bond they shared. He leaves his legacy of love, laughter, and memories with his son, John Hopkins, daughter, Harmony Hopkins, step daughters Jennifer and January, grandchildren, Ethan Hopkins, Jacque Boulais, Alexa, Cole, Brooke Bergeron, and Meadow McCollum. He is survived also by his loving sisters Susan Hopkins, Kimberly Martel, and Shawna Kelley. Also his nephew Jeremiah, his daughter in law Michelle Hopkins, brother in law Jeffrey Megna.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Beverly Hopkins.

John's life was a testament to the power of faith, the importance of community, and the profound impact one person can make when they live their life in service to others.

His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire those he touched.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Christian Life Church, 222 Plain Street, Rehoboth, MA.
