John Lopes
Jr
Mar 10, 1947 — Oct 25, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Francis Lopes Jr., affectionately known as Junior, on October 25, 2025. Born on March 10, 1947, in Fall River, Massachusetts, John spent his whole life in his beloved hometown, building a legacy of service and dedication that will be remembered by all who knew him.
John worked as a forklift driver, security guard, and as a constable for the Fall River Police Department. In his retirement, he continued his active participation in the VFW. He was a familiar and loved figure in the VFW hall, always ready to lend a hand setting up for Bingo nights or preparing the clamboil dinners. John found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was playing a game of pool, marching in the Fall River parades, or watching a football game. His love for the military was evident in every conversation, and though his exact service record remains unclear, his commitment to those who served was unmistakable.
John was a loving father to his daughter Shawna and her husband Kenneth Keyes, and a doting grandfather to his grandsons Zeyden and Dayton Keyes. He is also survived by his brother David Lopes of Winter Park, FL, and his sister Donna Brisson of Fall River, MA, whose husband Ray Brisson predeceased him, and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Lopes, and his brothers Joseph, Ricardo, Matthew, and Paul Lopes. He is also survived by his longtime companion Marianne Bianchi.
