Jose
Diaz
Jun 4, 1977 — Mar 13, 2026
Jose Alberto Diaz of Fall River, lovingly known to all as "Macho," passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the Charlton Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Macho was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, where he became known for his sharp wit, larger-than-life personality, and the loyalty and respect he carried with him everywhere he went. Later in life, he made his home in Fall River.
He will be deeply missed by his loving son, Jose Diaz and his daughter in law Darcy Smith, his caring father, Juan Baez, and his devoted mother, Teresa Diaz. Macho is also survived by his inseparable siblings Vilma Diaz, Wanda Diaz, Iris Diaz Supo, and Gilberto Baez, with whom he shared a lifelong bond of love, loyalty, and laughter. He leaves behind his loving wife Catherine Santiago, to whom he was a devoted and loving husband, their bond was blessed and sacred. Macho will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and their children, all of whom were touched by his warmth and generous spirit.
Family and friends were the center of Macho's world and the true source of his pride and happiness. He was a natural caretaker, a loyal friend, and a trusted confidant to all who were fortunate enough to know him. His laughter was contagious, and he had a remarkable way of finding humor and light even in difficult moments.
Known for his impeccable style, Macho took great pride in his sneaker collection and his sharp sense of fashion. He also had a deep love for food, finding joy not only in sharing meals with those he loved, but in the kitchen as well, where he enjoyed cooking almost as much as he loved eating.
Macho brought light and warmth to everyone around him. We invite those who were touched by Macho's life to share their memories and upload photos to the memorial page. Let us celebrate his life and keep his spirit alive with our recollections of the times we shared with him.
