Jose E. Martinez, 59, of New Bedford passed away July 29, 2022 at St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River. He was the loving companion of Cheryl Lopes whom he has been with for the past 39 years. Born in Agua Buena, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Olga (Rivera) Martinez and Hermenegileo Martinez but had lived in New Bedford for most of his life. Mr. Martinez worked as a painter. He was a handyman who enjoyed baseball and other sports, painting, working on cars and spending time with his family. Along with Cheryl, He is survived by his sons: Joshua Martinez and Matthew Martinez, both of New Bedford; his brothers Eduardo Sanchez of Virginia and Mario Martinez of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Elsa Fuentes, Bethsaida Martinez, Angel Luis Bibiloni, Javier Sanchez and Carlos Martinez. There are no services scheduled at this time.
