Jose M. Sousa, born on December 11, 1959, in São Miguel, Portugal, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025. A loving husband, devoted father, and cherished friend, Jose's life was a testament to the power of hard work, passion, and the enduring strength of family bonds.

A seasoned concrete work supervisor, Jose contributed significantly to the construction industry during his career. His diligence, technical skill, and natural leadership earned him the respect of his colleagues and the admiration of all who worked alongside him.

Jose was a proud resident of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, where he built a life filled with love and laughter alongside his beloved wife, Nelia Sousa. He had a heart as solid as the concrete he helped shape — steady, dependable, and full of warmth. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Maria Sousa, and his brother, Tiago Sousa, whose memory remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Jose is survived by his loving wife, Nelia Sousa, and their two sons: Milton Sousa and his wife, Tiffany, and Gary Sousa and his wife, Stacy. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Emma, Jaxon, Alexander, and Aundraya — all of whom lovingly knew him as Vovô, a name that will forever carry his warmth, humor, and unconditional love. He is also survived by his brother, Enio Sousa, and sister-in-law, Rosalina, along with several nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. Together, they shared a lifetime of laughter and cherished memories.

Jose was a lifelong Portista, having proudly cheered for FC Porto since his youth. He also followed the New York Yankees and the San Francisco 49ers with passion. Beyond sports, he was a builder at heart. Whether at home or helping others, he never stopped improving the world around him through his craftsmanship and passion for creating. His hands were rarely idle, and his dedication to building and bettering his surroundings was a reflection of the care and love he carried for his family and friends.

As we bid farewell to Jose, we celebrate a well-lived life, one filled with purpose, love, and an enduring legacy that lives on in the hearts of those he touched.
