FALL RIVER... Joseph "Baliza" Raposo, 78, of Fall River, MA passed away at home surrounded by his family, Friday, February 26, 2021. He was the husband of Maryjo (Barbosa) Raposo of Fall River. Mr. Raposo was born in Ajuda Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores a son to the late Maria B. (Farais) Pacheco and had lived in Fall River since 1967. Joseph worked as a laborer for Penny Construction for many years. Baliza enjoyed fishing, supporting soccer, traveling to the Azores every year, and was a member of Our Lady of Light Band Club and St. Anthony's Band Club, Inc. both of Fall River. Survivors include his wife, a daughter Ann Marie Smith of Milbank, South Dakota, 2 sons: Steven J. Raposo, Joseph Raposo, Jr., 2 grandchildren Jasmine Ann Smith, Jade Lynn Desmarais, several nieces and nephews. Services will be private at the request of the family. Calling hour will be a walk-through visitation Monday from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant St., Fall River, MA. Everyone is asked to come in pay respects and walk through the funeral home. Social distancing and masks are required.
