Obituary

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Joshua Ra-Shawn Simmons, age 41, of Somerset, Massachusetts, on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from an undiagnosed heart condition.

Josh was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and lovingly raised by his aunt, Susan Davis.

Josh had a heart bigger than life, a beautiful smile, and a spirit that could brighten any room. He loved making people laugh and had a way of bringing joy to everyone around him. His giving heart, genuine kindness, and love for others made him truly special. Those who knew Josh will also remember his passion for sneakers and his time working at Home Depot in Somerset, where he was well liked by fellow employees and customers.

Josh leaves behind his beloved wife, Justine; his son, Joshua Jr.; his daughter, Jasenia Casanova-DeJesus; his sisters, Jaszmine Dowling and Lisza Riley; his nephews, Malique, Marquece, and Charles; and his great-niece, Avayah. He also leaves behind countless extended family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives were touched by his beautiful spirit.

Josh will be remembered for his infectious smile, unforgettable laughter, and the love he so freely gave. Though his passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of those who loved him, his beautiful spirit and the countless memories he created will live on forever.
