FALL RIVER... June L. Cook, 68, of Fall River passed away, Saturday, July 29,2023, at Charlton Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer for the last eight months. June was the widow of Robert E. Cook, Sr. She was born in Newport, RI, the daughter of Harold R. Madsen and Lucille (Luxo) Botelho, both deceased, and had lived most of her life in Fall River. Mrs. Cook was a private duty nurses' aide and a caretaker for many. She enjoyed duckpin bowling, diamond painting with her granddaughter Alli, reading and ceramics. She also enjoyed camping and going for coffee and car rides with her good friend, Nick Arruda. Survivors include her 2 sons, John M. Griffin, and Jason S. Griffin (Stephanie Oliveira) of Fall River, a stepson Robert E. Cook, Jr. of AZ, a stepdaughter Stephanie Guthrie of VA, a brother Raymond Vasconcellos of Fall River, a sister Cherie Botelho of Bristol, CT. She was the precious Mimi June to her 2 grandchildren whom she absolutely adored and loved with all her heart, Tyler Griffin (Britney Souza) and Allison Griffin, both of Fairhaven, and several nieces and nephews. June is also survived by her caretaker and the mother of her grandchildren, Andrea Nelson. Services are under the direction of the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Friday, August 4, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.
