Kenneth Thorpe
Jr
Feb 21, 1964 — Oct 9, 2024
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Kenneth Thorpe, a man who was as funny as a stand-up comedian, as witty as an intellectual, as thoughtful as a philosopher, and as loving as a warm summer's day. Born in Fall River, MA on February 21, 1964, Kenneth was the epitome of a life lived fully and joyfully. His infectious laughter and quick wit filled any room he entered, and though he is no longer with us, his light continues to shine in our hearts. As the great Dr. Seuss once said, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." That sentiment perfectly encapsulates him.
Kenneth was the son of the late Kenneth J. Thorpe Sr. and his wife Carol Thorpe of Swansea, and son of Joyce Ducy (Cabral) and her husband Edward of Swansea.
Kenneth was a devoted husband to Donna, his wife of 40 years, and doting father to his daughter, Holly, son Kenneth, and his son Mikey who predeceased him in 2021. He was also a loving grandfather to Tristan and Ava, who were the apples of his eye. He leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and memories with his three siblings, Tammy Arruda and her husband Joseph of Somerset, Sherri Rodrigues and her husband James of Swansea, and he is predeceased by his brother Kevin Thorpe of Florida.
In his professional life, Kenneth was a vehicle inspector in the auto sales and auto auctions industry, retiring from Manheim New England in Dighton, MA. However, what mattered most to Kenneth was not his formal occupation, but the joy he found in simple pleasures. Whether it was cheering on his beloved New England Patriots, grilling outside for friends and family, enjoying a beer with friends, or spending precious moments with his family, Kenneth savored every moment. He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren.
As we say goodbye to Kenneth, we are comforted by memories of his laughter, his wit, and his love. We invite everyone who knew him to join us in celebrating his life at South Coast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, 02723, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Visitation will begin at 3:00pm and the service will follow at 6:00pm.
We also encourage all who knew Kenneth to share their memories and upload photos to his memorial page. As we remember Kenneth, let's heed the words of another wise soul, Winnie the Pooh: "How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard." Indeed, we are all so lucky to have known and loved Kenneth Thorpe.
