Linda Velozo, a beloved resident of Fall River, Massachusetts, was born on September 2, 1950, in the same town she would call home for her entire life. A beacon of love, warmth, and strength, Linda passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025. She was a devoted mother, an adored grandmother, an avid New England Patriots fan, and a woman who always spoke her truth. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." Linda was a testament to this wisdom.
Born Linda Buchanan, she married her high school sweetheart, Ernest Velozo Sr., and they built a life together based on love, laughter, and respect. Her love for her family was immeasurable, as was her passion for her favorite football team, the New England Patriots. Linda spent her professional life working at Griffin Manufacturing, where she was known as a hardworking and dedicated floor girl.
Linda was a woman of unsurpassed strength and courage, navigating life's challenges with grace and resilience. She was the kind of woman who "told it like it was," her honesty always delivered with a mix of love and humor. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she delighted in following their hobbies and sports. In Linda's eyes, her grandchildren could do no wrong; their joys were her joys, their successes her successes.
Linda leaves behind her children Colleen (Lawrence) St Onge of Tiverton and Ernest Velozo of Rehoboth ma Stephanie (Michael) santos of Swansea ,whom she raised. her grandchildren Nichole (Joshua) Sherman, Ashley (Justin) Prete, Natasha St. Onge Jarod and Zakary Velozo Her great grandchildren Jeremy Ferro Jr. Xander Sherman and Sephora Prete . Her godson Steven Buchanan. She leaves behind a sister Judith (Eddy) Rebello. Linda leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Velozo Sr. and her parents, Lynwood and Mary Buchanan. She is also predeceased by five siblings Robert, Betty Lou, Steven, Deborah and Doreen.
A public visitation will be held at Southcoast Funeral Home on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 05:00 PM - 07:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Good Shepherd Parish on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a committal service with prayers at Notre Dame Cemetery and Mausoleums at 11:00 AM.
