Luis Nieves
Vazquez
Jun 21, 1939 — Oct 14, 2024
It is with a joyous spirit that we celebrate the life of Luis Nieves Vazquez, a man whose compassion and laughter touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Born on June 21, 1939, in Yauco, Puerto Rico, Luis' vivacious spirit and zest for life was a beacon of inspiration throughout his 85 years. Retired from a lifetime of work in construction and welding, Luis was a builder not only of structures but also of a loving, supportive family and community in Fall River, Massachusetts, where he resided.
Luis was a spirited soul who found joy in simple pleasures. He loved fishing and the thrill of the chase for the next big catch. His passion for the open road was evident in his love for riding motorcycles. He found solace in the calming ritual of smoking tobacco and unwinding at the end of the day. A lover of music, Luis often lifted the spirits of those around him with his singing and his funny, infectious laughter. Luis was known as a big jokester and for his amazing stories but his greatest joy was derived from his time spent with his family.
His love for his wife, Juana Vazquez, and Luis loved being surrounded by his family including his wonderful children, Auera Nieves Rodriguez, Ricardo Nieves Rodriguez, Luis Antonio Nieves Vazquez Jose Nieves Vazquez, Carmen Nieves Vazquez, Jesus Nieves Vazquez, Ines Nieves Vazquez, Maria Nieves Vazquez, Anabel Nieves Vazquez, Maribel Nieves Vazquez, Blanca Nieves Vazquez, Ramon Nieves Vazquez, Roberto Nieves Vazquez, Juana Nieves Vazquez, and Danny Nieves Vazquez. He also leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories with his 60 plus grandchildren and his many great grandchildren.
As we remember Luis, we are reminded of the saying, "A good life is a collection of happy moments." Luis lived his life to the fullest, spreading love, joy, and support to all those he encountered. He was preceded in death by his parents Efigenia and Luiz Nieves. He is survived by his wife Juana, and his granddaughter Maria Gautier.
