Maria Filomena (Martins) Couto, 69, of Fall River and wife of Jose Couto, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2025 in the comforts of her home following an illness.

Born in Feteiras de Sul, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Jose Oliveira Martins and the late Maria Jesus (Elias) Martins.

After being employed at Shelburne and Whaling Manufacturing, she enjoyed spending time with her family, playing with her granddaughters and cooking.

Besides her husband of 36 years, she leaves: her loving children, Danny Couto and Linda Ouellette (husband Robert), both of Fall River; her two granddaughters, Olivia and Zoey Ouellette; her two brothers; Ramiro Martins (late wife Gilda), and Jose Martins (wife Dorvalina) both of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Maria G. Cabral, Daciel Oliveria, David Martins and Gilberto Martins.

A public visitation to which relatives and friends are invited will be held on Wednesday March 26, 2025 from 8:30 AM - 09:30 AM from the Southcoast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant St. Fall River, MA 02723. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM inside of the Saint Anthony of Padua Church, Fall River. Interment will follow inside the Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River
