Obituary

Maria C. Roias was born on March 27, 1921, in Arrifes, São Miguel, Azores, to Joseph and Maria Paulino. Throughout her 104 years of life, Maria loved her family and friends and was loved by them.

Maria worked at Settlos and retired from Anderson Little in Fall Fiver. Her journey took her from Arrifes, São Miguel, Azores to Fall River, Massachusetts, where she spent the rest of her years. She was a loving wife to Manuel Roias, with whom she shared 46 years of marriage until his death.

She is survived by her children, Mary Mello and her husband Thomas, Maria Blais andher husband Richard, Irma Roias, Joseph Roias and his wife Robin, Edward Roias, and Lucy Rapoza and her husband John. She is also survived by 14 wonderful grandchildren and was blessed with many great grandchildren. She is survived by her brother, Gilbert Paulino and his wife Maria. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Paulino and Maria Paulino. She is also predeceased by her son Manuel Roias Jr, and her siblings, Theresa DoCouto, Humberto Paulino, Miguel Paulino, and Antero Paulino.

As we remember Maria, we invite you to join us for a public visitation on Saturday, July 5, 2025, from 09:30 AM - 10:30 AM at the Southcoast Funeral Home, located at 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Massachusetts. Following the visitation, a Catholic Service and Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am at the same venue presided over by Chaplain and Life Celebrant Ines Bates. Maria's life journey will be honored with a committal service at St. Patrick's Cemetery, 2233 Robeson Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, at 11:15 am.
