Mark
Decosta
Feb 29, 1972 — Sep 1, 2025
It is with a profound sense of loss and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mark John Decosta, who left us too soon on September 1, 2025. Born on a leap day, February 29, 1972, in Fall River, MA, Mark would often joke that his age should be counted in leap years, making him forever young in spirit. That spirit was woven into the fabric of his life, reflecting his boundless energy, passion, and dedication to those he loved. He was a resident of Tiverton, Rhode Island, where he touched many lives through his work, laughter, and love.
Mark was a loving husband to Lori DeCosta, his partner in life and love. Their bond was powerful and enduring, a testament to their shared values and mutual respect. He loved Lori with all his heart, and together, they created a life filled with joy, laughter, and endless love. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albertina and John Decosta, who instilled in him a strong sense of love, loyalty, and compassion.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his sister Beverly and her spouse Willy and his brother David. His children Kevin along with his 5 children, daughter Marquise and granddaughter Aura and son Mark jr. Mark was also a loving stepfather to Antonio, Michael and Chad DeJesus his grandchildren Antonio, Alexandra, Brooke, Briana, Chad and Cora along with an expected great grandchild he was looking forward to meeting. Mark also had several nieces and nephews he absolutely adored and enjoyed spending time with.
Our family considers it to be a privilege having Mark in our lives since he was one of the kindest souls to grace this earth. Mark loved freely and is remembered for his humble spirit by all of us. He believed in kindness and always was willing to help others if they were in need.
As a family we want to thank you all for the outpouring of your condolences, kind words and prayers. There will be no services at this time. We are planning a celebration of life in memory of Mark closer to his birthday. Since he was so fond of being that leap year baby it would be nice to all come together in remembrance of him on his favorite day. We will keep you posted when we figure out an exact date.
We invite all those who knew Mark to share their memories and upload photos on his memorial page. These shared moments will serve as a tribute to Mark's life, his impact, and the indelible mark he left on all our hearts.
In lieu of flowers and family donations if you would like to make a donation to an animal shelter in Mark's memory and name the family would humbly appreciate that.
Services are humbly entrusted into the care of Southcoast Funeral Homes "Celebrating A Life Well Lived"
