Mary Evelyn Barboza, a devoted mother, cherished friend and lifelong resident of Tiverton, Rhode Island, passed away on August 5, 2025, leaving a legacy of love, resilience, and hard work.
Born on March 7, 1936, in Fall River, MA, to Manuel and Mary Viveiros. She possessed a very generous and giving nature. Mary dedicated many years of her life to Fall River Chase Curtain Mfg.
Her union with her beloved husband, Richard Barboza, who preceded her in death, was a beautiful testament to love and partnership. Together, they nurtured a family, creating a home filled with warmth and laughter. She is survived by son, Richard Barboza (wife Louise), daughters Susan Brilhante (husband Raymond), and Cynthia Cordeiro (husband Richard) and grandson, Richard Cordeiro Jr.
She enjoyed reading, word games and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Tiverton Senior Center where she made many friends and enjoyed participating in daily activities. She was a devout parishioner of Holy Ghost Catholic Church for most of her life.
A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 04:00 PM - 07:00 PM at the Southcoast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Massachusetts. A Celebration of Life will be held at 06:30 PM at the same venue presided over by Chaplain and Life Celebrant Ines Bates.
A Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Holy Ghost Church, 316 Judson Street, Tiverton, Rhode Island, followed by a committal service at 11:00 am at Pocassett Hill Cemetery, Tiverton, Rhode Island.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary's honor can be made to the Tiverton Senior Center, 207 Canonicus Street, Tiverton, Rhode Island 02878.
