FALL RIVER... Mary L. (Nieves) Mejia, age 58, passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, September 22, 2022. Mary was born in New Bedford, MA to Angel Nieves and the late Maria (Yulfo) Mejia. She was the beloved girlfriend of Jose Barranco of Fall River. Mary loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed playing bingo. In addition to her father, Angel, and boyfriend, Jose, survivors include: son, Jeremiah Nicol of Bridgewater, MA; daughters, Vilma Godfrey of Norton, MA and Caroline; brothers, Ely Nieves of Florida, Alnardo Nieves of New Bedford, MA and Benjamin Nieves of Florida; sisters, Yolanda Haberl and Damaris Nieves, both of Florida; and 8 grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her daughter, the late Veronica Velez, and sister, the late Evelyn Nieves. Visitation to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2022 from 4 - 6 PM at Boyko Memorial Funeral Home, 709 Broadway Fall River, MA 02724. There will be a prayer service starting at 6 PM. Cremation will follow.
