Matthew Barlow, a beloved son and skilled tradesman, was born in Fall River on September 21, 1989, passed away on February 16, 2026.

A lifelong resident of Fall River, Massachusetts, Matthew was a respected electrician known for his dedication to his craft.

Matthew is survived by his loving mother, Dawn Barlow, and his loving sister, Sarah Barlow. He was preceded in death by his father, George McGee.

To Matthew, family was everything. He was never married but lived his life with a heart full of love for his family and his work. Matthew was a kind, sweet, loving soul who never hurt anyone in his lifetime. He was a non-judgemental person who would help a stranger in need. Though to Matthew there where no strangers as he considered everyone a friend. There was a reverence to him in the way he respected others. Matthew had countless friends who he cherished and some were bonds that are eternally unbreakable.

Matthew and his mother where the rocks that held each up other through thick and thin as there love and devotion to each other was unparalleled. He loved his sister fiercely and even though she was younger than him he looked up to her with immense respect and awe of the strong, courageous, beautiful women she is. He wanted nothing more than the three of them together.

Unfortunately, Matthew couldn't find his way out of the darkness within himself, even though he emanated light to everyone else. Through all his pain, suffering and struggles, he showed everyone else nothing but kindness and empathy. He was a special soul that lit up any room he was in. Matthew wanted to live life fully but he wanted to live life free of suffering. He desperately tried time and time again to find that peace and he never once gave up. He had a strong faith in the Lord. While on earth Matthew touched many lives with his sweet demeanor and his beautiful soul. May all the memories that anyone who has made with Matthew carry you through and may Matthew's legacy of kindness and love continue on through all that he met. He wasn't just beautiful on the outside, he was gorgeous on the inside. His soul was so pure that this world was too heavy for him. Jesus realized this world was too much for Matthew and called him home to relieve his suffering. Matthew is now free of pain and filled with love, light, and peace. Fly free beautiful soul.

Friends and Family are cordially invited to attend a public visitation which will be held on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026, from 4:00 PM - 06:30 PM at the Southcoast Funeral Home, inside of the Ferreira Chapel, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, 02723. This will be followed by a celebration of Matthew's life at the same venue at 6:30 PM presided over by Chaplain and Life Celebrant Ines Bates.

A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026, at 09:00 AM inside of the funeral home, A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption, 327 Second Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, 02721. Interment will be private.
