Matthew G. Pires, born on November 2, 1981, in Providence, Rhode Island, was a beacon of light in our lives, his spirit characterized by empathy, generosity, and love. A resilient man, he was always happiest when surrounded by family and friends. He had an infectious smile that could light up a room, and a heart that was always ready to give, sometimes even literally the shirt off his back. A beautiful soul, Matthew lived his life following the words of Albert Schweitzer: "The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others."

Matthew made his home in Swansea, Massachusetts, where he cultivated a life filled with love and joy. Despite his ailments Matthew never let them define him. He was a man who saw his disabilities not as limitations but as challenges to overcome. His resilience was more than a quality; it was a testament to his indomitable spirit.

Remembered as a loving and devoted husband, Matthew is survived by his beloved wife, Joann Pires. Their love story was one for the ages, filled with shared laughter, mutual respect, and an undeniable bond. Together, they built a life that was a reflection of their shared dreams and aspirations. Matthew's parents, Manuel and Deborah Pires, also survive him. Mathew leaves a legacy behind with his siblings Timothy and Tiffany. He leaves behind 4 children, 3 stepchildren, 2 grandchildren, and one nephew. His deep-rooted family values and the love he had for his parents was a testament to his compassionate and generous nature.
