Mercedes Eugenia Lorenzana, a woman of strength, resilience, and boundless love, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026.

Born on November 15, 1942, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, Mercedes was the embodiment of grace and determination. As the famous saying goes, "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away." Mercedes' life was a testament to this, as she lived not just to exist, but to make a difference.

Mercedes moved to Westport, Massachusetts, where she spent most of her life, and where she touched many lives with her kindness, wisdom, and vibrant spirit. Her strength was her legacy, a legacy she passed onto her son Alejandro, who survives her.

Mercedes was preceded in death by her parents, Rodolfo and Nora Lorenzana, who instilled in her a strong sense of family values and a love for her heritage. She was not just a mother, a friend, or a colleague.
