With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael David Albernaz, born on October 27th, 1981 in Fall River, Massachusetts. A loving son, brother, father and friend. Michael David's legacy is as vibrant and captivating as the life he lived.
Michael David was a graduate of Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School. He was an army specialist with the 180th Engineer Detachment (Utility) with the Massachusetts Army National Guard. He proudly served his country in Active Duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Kuwait/Iraq. He received the National Defense Service Medal, The Army Commendation Medal, the Army Forces Reserve Medal with M Device and the Army Service Ribbon. He spent much of his career as a manager for FedEx/JP Guthrie, Inc. (contractor) where his dedication to his work and his team was unrivaled. His colleagues admired him for his work ethic, and his friends cherished him for his kind heart and his enduring sense of humor. He was an avid lover of UFC fighting, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and New England Patriots. He played baseball for Maplewood Independent Baseball league in his younger years.
Michael David was deeply loved and will be missed by many. He was survived by his mother Theresa Quental, stepfather Emanuel Quental, father Michael Albernaz, sister Brooke Quental, brothers Jordan and Cody Albernaz and daughters Madisyn Marie and Khloe Rose Albernaz. He was the grandson of the late Rosalind and David Rebello. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
At the request of the family, services will be private at Southcoast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, 02723. This will be followed by a Catholic Funeral Service with Military Honors presented at the same venue presided over by Chaplain and Life Celebrant Ines Bates.
