It is with heavy hearts that we share with you the passing of our beloved Michael Arpa, who departed this earthly realm on December 2, 2025. Born on June 19, 1966, in Fall River, Massachusetts, to Michael Arpa and Dolores Dias, Michael, affectionately known as Mike, was a beacon of light, laughter, and love in the lives of many. He had a way of filling every room with warmth, a testament to his funny, smart, and empathetic nature. His infectious laughter and quick wit made him a joy to be around. As the poet Maya Angelou once said, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Michael made everyone feel loved and valued.
Michael was a man of many interests, including a passionate love for fishing and antiquing. He had an uncanny knack for finding hidden gems in the most unlikely of places. He was also a lover of card games, often organizing fun-filled evenings with friends and family. Throughout his professional life, Michael was a committed Quality Control officer in the manufacturing industry, his keen intellect and meticulous nature making him a valued member of his team.
Above all, Michael was a man who cherished his family. He was the loving father to his children Michael, Haylee, Erica, and Kevin; a caring brother to his sister, Melissa Ferreira; and a supportive step-son to Leonard Dias. He was also a cherished ex-husband to Shannon Arpa and a dear uncle to Samantha Thurston and Dylan Ferreira. Michael was a pillar of strength and support for his loved ones, and his absence will be deeply felt. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Arpa, and his mother, Dolores Dias.
A public visitation of Michael's life will be held at Southcoast Funeral Home, inside of the Ferreira Chapel at 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, 02723, on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. It will be an occasion to remember and honor Michael's vibrant spirit and enduring legacy. A Celebration of Life will be presided over by Chaplain and Life Celebrant Ines Bates at 07:00 PM.
In the words of Helen Keller, "What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Michael may no longer be with us in person, but his memory lives on in the hearts and minds of all those who knew and loved him.
