Obituary

Michael Reid Doran, known to all as Michael, was born on April 22, 1959, in Danbury, CT, USA. He was a beacon of strength and resilience throughout his 65 years, until his passing on September 22, 2024. As the Scottish poet Thomas Campbell once said, "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die," and Michael's spirit continues to live within the hearts of all who knew him.

Michael, a resident of Fall River, Massachusetts, was never one to let his disability define him. Despite being disabled due to a traumatic brain injury (TBI), he was far from being confined by it. He carried an unwavering spirit of resilience and optimism that inspired everyone around him. His life was a testament to the words of Helen Keller: "Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it." Michael Doran did just that; he overcame, continuously, with a grace and dignity that left an indelible mark on those who were fortunate to know him.

Michael is survived by his loving sister, Cappy Temple. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Doran, and his mother, Veronica Doran. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate his life, his strength, and the profound influence he had on those around him. As Albert Schweitzer beautifully articulated, "What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us."

We invite all those who knew Michael to leave their memories of him and upload photos to his memorial page. In doing so, we can all contribute to keeping his spirit alive, celebrating his life, and remembering the remarkable person that he was.
