Michael Vilao, known to many as Mikey, passed away on January 14, 2026 at the age of 54. Born on July 5, 1971, in Fall River, MA, Michael proudly served as a mail carrier, delivering not just letters and packages but also moments of joy and regular friendly interactions that often brightened the days of many.

Michael was known for his love of New England sports and a hearty meal, which often brought him together with friends and family. On weekends, you could find him cheering on his favorite teams, savoring a delicious meal, or embarking on a camping adventure around the region. Mikey also loved his fantasy football cheering on his team as they played. His passion for life was contagious, and he had a natural knack for making those around him feel not just seen, but genuinely valued. As the famous quote from Maya Angelou says, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Michael embodied this sentiment in every aspect of his life.

He dedicated his time especially to the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, a non-profit organization that offers financial assistance to families affected by cancer. Michael's commitment to this foundation was a testament to his generous spirit, and his actions have left an indelible mark on the community he loved.

Michael is survived by his loving mother, Maria Vilao, his brother Paul Vilao, his aunt Odete Santos, and several cousins and many friends. He was predeceased by his father, Edwin Vilao.

Friends and Family are cordially invited to attend a public visitation which will take place on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 08:30 AM - 10:00 AM at Southcoast Funeral Home, inside of the Ferreira Chapel, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, 02723. This will be followed by a Funeral Home Service at 10:00 AM inside the funeral home and a Committal Service at 11:00 am at the Notre Dame Cemetery, Stafford Road, Fall River.
