Richard "Rick" Mendoza, 61, of Fall River, formerly of Somerset, born on July 23, 1964 in Fall River, MA, passed away on September, 17, 2025 unexpectedly at Saint Anne's Hospital after fighting a long battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Richard is survived by his fiancée, Donna Enos, who stood by him as a spouse offering steadfast support, love, care and companionship for 26 years, and her son, Alexander Enos.

He also leaves behind his son, Kyle Richard Mendoza; daughter, Kelsie Lynn Mendoza; two brothers, James "Jimmy" Mendoza and Scott Mendoza; and nephew, Ryan Mendoza. He was the son of the late James and Margaret Mendoza of Florida, formerly of Somerset, and brother, John Mendoza.

"Rick," as he was known and called by most, loved fishing, crabbing, clam and quahog digging, and spent countless hours along the shores of the Taunton River throughout his life.

An avid sports fan, he was a true diehard fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Bruins as well as the Boston Celtics and Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed watching both college basketball and football and professional sports of all types.

Rick's neighbors will truly miss him as he was always lending a helping hand to any who asked. He was the handy tool man and Mr. Fix It to all who knew him.

Richard will be happily reunited with his best buddy, Elmo.

His family would like to thank the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, "Rick" had spent the past two or more years getting numerous chemotherapy and blood infusion treatments, stem cell transplant, tests and procedures under the guidance of Hematologist/Oncologist Dr. Eric Jacobsen of the lymphoma department, who we called since day one "captain of the journey."

A memorial visitation for Richard Mendoza will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 11:00 - 01:00 PM at the Southcoast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, 02723. This will be followed by a memorial service at the same location at 01:00 PM presided over by Chaplain and Life Celebrant Ines Bates.
