Rosa Ordonez
Chitic
Aug 9, 1983 — May 2, 2026
It is with loving hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of the charismatic and resilient Rosa Ordonez Chitic, of New Bedford.
Rosa was born on August 9, 1983, in Zacualpa, Quiche, Guatemala. Rosa, whose infectious laughter and delightful sense of humor brought joy to many lives, was cherished not only by her family, but also by the community of New Bedford, Massachusetts, where she resided. Her bright spirit, symbolized by her love for the color red, was a beacon of hope and courage. She was a lover of life, an accomplished woman who navigated its ebbs and flows with grace, dignity, and an unshakeable sense of humor.
Rosa's ambition and resilience were hallmarks of her incredible journey from Guatemala to the United States at the tender age of 17. She navigated this challenging path, carrying with her an 11-month-old daughter and her 13-year-old sister. This monumental effort speaks volumes about her dedication to providing a better life for her loved ones. In the words of Helen Keller, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." Rosa's life was indeed a daring adventure. She embraced every challenge with determination, channeled her vibrant energy into her work in environmental services at Saltmarsh Foods, and found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as music, dancing, and spending time at the lake during the summer.
Rosa's children were her world. She survived by her children Joselin Ordonez, Christopher Ordonez, Jennifer Lux, and Carlos Lux. Rosa was also preceded in death by her father, Jose Ordonez. Her children's favorite meals, cooked with love and care, were a testament of her devotion to them. Rosa also had a generous heart, never hesitating to offer a friend a plate of food. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched with her laughter, kindness, and resilience. . Friends and Family are cordially invited to attend a public visitation which will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026 08:30 AM - 11:00 AM at the Southcoast Funeral Home, inside of the Ferreira Chapel. 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, 02723. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same venue at 11:00 AM. Services will conclude at 12:00 PM with a committal service at Rural Cemetery, 149 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts, 02740.
We encourage everyone who knew Rosa to share your memories, stories, and photos on her memorial page. By doing so, we can keep her spirit alive and celebrate the remarkable woman that she was.
The funeral home offers a lighted parking lot which is available on the corner of Boutwell and Pleasant Street, (opposite corner of the funeral home) and the facility has a handicap-accessible ramp and entrance.
Services are humbly entrusted into the care of Southcoast Funeral Homes at Ferreira Chapel "Celebrating A Life Well Lived"
