With a heart full of loving memories, we announce the passing of Ruth Gatie Bendiksen.

Ruth was a loving, warm, and dedicated woman with a keen sense of humor. The youngest of six girls, Ruth was born on January 19, 1938, to Joseph and Bessie Gatie in New Bedford, MA.

Her legacy of love and kindness is carried forward by her devoted daughter, Jo-Anne Olean, her son-in-law Peter Olean, her seven grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren.

Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband, Martin Bendiksen, and her loving daughter, Keren Pardini. Her spirit lives on with her family and in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Even as we mourn Ruth's passing, we celebrate her life and the remarkable woman she was. Her story is not just one of loss, but a life beautifully lived and generously shared. Ruth was a remarkable woman, whose gentle spirit left an indelible mark in the world.

She worked as a bookkeeper, and had many friends in the office to share her witty sense of humor. Ruth was musical and enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She sewed clothes for her girls when they were young. In the words of Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Ruth Bendiksen encapsulated the essence of this quote. Ruth loved children and would play with her grand children and great grand children for hours. Ruth always made sure to stock her kitchen with all her grandchildren's favorite treats. Ruth made her grandchildren feel loved and heard, she always had time to listen.

Ruth took pride in creating a welcoming, clean, and cozy home. Many holidays were spent at Ruth and Marty's house where there was plenty of wine, snacks, and laughter filled dinners.

A Catholic Mass of Farewell will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Seekonk, Massachusetts on November 15, 2024 at 10:00 AM, followed by burial at Greenwood Cemetery 72 Plain St, Rehoboth, MA.

A luncheon will be served following at the home of Peter & Jo-Anne Olean, 101 Warren Avenue in Seekonk
