Obituary

On March 28, 2025, we bid farewell to a remarkable soul, Sebastiao Estrela, husband of the late Fernanda Conceicao Pavao Estrela. Born on January 20, 1942 in Sao Miguel, Azores, Sebastiao lived a life filled with dedication and love. His example has left an indelible impact on the hearts of all those who had the privilege to know him. As Maya Angelou beautifully expressed, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Sebastiao was a living embodiment of this sentiment.

He was the son of the late Manuel DeSousa Estrela and Etelvina Aguiar Duarte.

Sebastiao's memory will be carried on by his son Jorge Sousa and wife Debora, son Paulo Sousa, Son Nuno Sousa and wife Laura. He leaves his legacy of love with his grandchildren Mike Sousa, Hugo Sousa, Victoria Sousa, Liam Sousa, Luca Sousa, and his Great grandchildren Beckham Sousa, Cedric Sousa, Amalia Sousa, Kilani Sousa

Sebastiao's journey began in Portugal, where he served as a soldier in the Portuguese army. His commitment to service was not only witnessed in his military duties but was a continual thread woven throughout his life. After his time in the army, he channeled his dedication and passion into the art of baking. As a baker and business owner in Portugal, Sebastiao brightened many mornings and sweetened countless celebrations with his culinary creations. His work was not just a job, but a tangible expression of his compassionate spirit.

His love for life was also evident in his fervor for soccer. As an ardent fan of Santa Clara and Benfica, he found joy in the camaraderie and excitement of the game. His enthusiasm was infectious, turning even the most indifferent into keen followers of the sport.

A public visitation will be held from 06:00 PM - 08:00 PM at the Southcoast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, MA, 02723. Sebastiao Estrela's Catholic (Portuguese) Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 07:00 PM inside of the funeral home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of our beloved Sebastiao.

As we remember Sebastiao, let us celebrate not only his life but also the love, dedication, and compassion he brought to our lives. He will forever be remembered as a beacon of warmth, a steadfast pillar of strength, and a source of joy.
