Obituary

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Serafina Cipriano, age 91 of Fall River who passed away on February 8th, 2025.

Born on April 7th, 1933 in Covoada, São Miguel, Azores, Portugal, she later immigrated to the United States with her family. She was the wife of the late Manuel Cipriano. She was the daughter of the late Constantina Demelo and Manuel Cordeiro.

Serafina was a devoted matriarch whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. She devoted her life to her family, her home was a place of comfort, filled with laughter, the smell of home-cooked meals, and the gentle wisdom and stories she shared. Serafina a devout Catholic and was a communicant of Santo Christo Church.

She is survived by her 6 children: Miguel Cipriano and Salome Borges both of Fall River, Charles Cipriano Sr., Luis Cipriano and Lidia Ferreira all of Dartmouth, and Joseph Cipriano of Fall River: 12 Grandchildren: Michael Borges, Rui Cipriano, William Borges, Cassandra Lima, Charles Cipriano, Jr., Joseph Borges, Jr., Ricardo Cipriano, Erica Couto, and Kristine Sousa, Nicholas Cipriano, Andrew Ferreira and Mason Cipriano; 10 great grandchild: Tatyana Cipriano, Joseph Borges III, Amalia Lima, Christian Borges, Cailum Lima, Destiny Sousa, Hunter Sousa, Claire Couto, Carter Cipriano and Gianna Cipriano. As well as many nieces and nephews.

A Public visitation will be held at Southcoast Funeral Home, located at 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, 02723, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, from 5PM - 8PM. It will be a time to remember Serafina, to celebrate her life, and to share the ways in which she touched our lives.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025 at 10:00 am at Santo Christo Parish followed by a Committal Service with Chapelside Prayers at 11:15 am at Notre Dame Cemetery.

We invite all who knew Serafina to share their memories, stories, and photos on her memorial page. Let us remember Serafina not for her departure, but for the life she lived, the love she shared, and the legacy she leaves behind.
