Obituary

With a heart full of love and profound respect, we honor the life of Thomas Ferreira. Born on May 7, 1937, in the vibrant city of Fall River, MA, Thomas was a man of extraordinary character and abiding love for his family and friends. His life was a beautiful testament to the power of resilience, as he navigated both peace and wartime as a distinguished Marine, and later applied that same tenacity to his work as an engineer at Montaup Electric. As Helen Keller once said, "Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved." Thomas was a true embodiment of this sentiment.

Thomas had an indomitable spirit, a zest for life that permeated everything he did. He was a loving husband to Donna Ferreira, a devoted father, and a loyal friend. His passion for music was infectious; he played with fervor as a drummer and bass player in multiple bands, most recently the Taillights, a band made up largely of Vietnam vets like himself. In his leisure time, he found peace and camaraderie on the golf course, sharing laughs and creating cherished memories with his friends. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." And succeed Thomas did, touching countless lives with his warmth, humor, and kindness.

Thomas, a proud graduate of Durfee High School and holder of a Bachelor's degree, was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Georgiana Ferreira. He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, epitomized by his beloved wife, Donna. His life was a beautiful journey, a melody of cherished moments and selfless love. As we remember Thomas, we are reminded of the words of Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Thomas made everyone feel loved and cherished, and his memory will forever live in our hearts.

Please join us on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Southcoast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, to celebrate the amazing life of Thomas Ferreira. A visitation will be held from 09:00 AM - 11:00 AM followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM. A committal service with military honors will take place at 12:00 PM at St. Patrick's Cemetery, 2233 Robeson Street, Fall River, Massachusetts.
