FALL RIVER ...Victor V. Ponte, 59, of Fall River, passed away Thursday October 6, 2011 after a long illness. Born in Madeira Azores, he was the son of the late Vincent and Teresa (Dejesus) de Ponte Jr. and had been a resident of the city since 1978. He was the husband of Maria F. (Machado) Ponte. Mr. Ponte enjoyed playing cards, fishing, watching TV and soccer. Survivors include his wife, a son: Victor Ponte of Fall River, 2 daughters: Stephanie Ponte of New Bedford, Vanessa F. Ponte Fall River, 2 Brothers: Manuel Ponte and Joao Ponte, 5 Sisters: Maria Encarnacao Ponte, Ilda Ponte, Zildinha Ponte, Beatriz Ponte, Teresa Ponte Araujo, many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 8 AM at the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant St., Fall River, followed by Mass of Christian burial at 9am at Espirito Santo Church, Alden Street, Fall River. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Monday from 5-8PM.
